In the world of energy analyst's there's a rule that Hormuz can be closed no longer than three weeks. After that the disruption will be felt worldwide and for an extended period after it reopens. You see oil producers in the region have only so much storage and that means the have to shut down production. Starting it back up is a bit of a process especially for the LNG facitities. This might be why a number of countries have been asked to send naval assets towards the area.
