The Canadian Youth

Hi there here's a message to the youth of Canada.  Not all young people but those who seem confused and or disillusioned with the system or the candidates who are running in this next election. For this post I am going to leave out, as much as possible, the politics of our southern neighbor.   You might wonder a number of things the first one: Is going to vote even worth the time?  You will hear many older people say that your vote doesn't mean much because if you live anywhere but Ontario and Quebec it won't change the outcome!  True Ontario and Quebec have the majority of seats in the house of commons so when there is a majority of which ever party it is a sealed deal for the rest of Canada right?  Well although Ontario has a total of 122 seats you would still need 173 seats to have a majority. So Yes the voting in all of the other territories and provinces counts sometimes more sometimes less but count it does. I hope I have those numbers right....

So you gonna vote? Spoiler Alert!  There are no  (more) nude women in this post! Its just that the NDP need help so thought I'd draw more of an audience to my humble blog of course the honorable folks in the NDP would never stoop to the lowest rung like yours truly, maybe they should. When you consider my roots are in Saskatchewan you'd think I would be all over the NDP and until the Green Party I did. Hey  I do like NDP policies and in the pack of wolves who are vying to be top dog in Alberta the NDP are the only ones who field a leader who has a degree in Political Science, more ironic than anything of substance. Truly I find the fact he was an Edmonton city bus driver for many years to be of more interest and IMO of more value to the electorate. New Democrats have pretty much always been third or forth in the popular vote in this province and while we do not have huge numbers of union members you'd think they'd do better than they do. Who are these people und what do they stand for? part one

So there is an ELECTION coming to our beloved province. As usual I am wondering who the candidates are??? ??? ??? To be fair if I registered with anyone party I could find out plenty about any one of the platforms but how much info can a simple fellow like myself get in order to make an informed choice without having to pledge allegiance to a specific party? I tried this a few years ago and recently had little luck in finding out much about the Wild Rose Party of Alberta  none the less I will try again.  That will be later as I will start with my favorite party! Lets see if they have a candidate running in this province? Well it seems not a green party but a member of the international Green party. Here's their page  http://evergreenparty.ca/ So right off the Greens have a slick national website  http://www.greenparty.ca/riding/48001   I found, with very little looking, my riding info and yes there is a woman running in my ri...

I wonder what kind of calamity will be caused by the refusal of some in power to see and understand the affects caused by SMS technology! I didn't really get up to speed until I watched a few TEDx Talks. Sure I knew that the internet had possibilities but to think the net would be connected to a mobile phone sending and receiving  information in real time was too much to think about back in 93 or 94 when I got my first cell phone. I shouldn't have to keep up with these things after all we have lots of able bodies in the government to watch these trends and ignore them better than I can. The government of Canada is still not up to speed when it comes to the internet and personal communication and likely will never get into gear within my lifetime.  The lack of will to include crowd sourcing as a point of agenda within the major parties is short sighted but it is something to be avoided if you are opposed to an open democracy.  Could you ...
