who has more appeal Raj or Danielle? not sexy like the Grits,Tories and Renegades but: Through out this exercise I have been looking for the party who has shown the capacity to embrace some real basic questions and they don't have much to do about education, roads or tar sands. I'm more an Apple guy So   many issues are brought forward it's hard not to have a scattergun approach to the state and repair of the social fabric.  Some   would clean what we have with chemical acidity,  some   with surgical precision would slice bits away and suture the rest back together.   Remember it's the Evergreen Party on your Provincial ballot and   some would rather  weave a completely new  piece of fabric replacing the  dysfunctional  tattered outer sections of what exists. Just like the provincial flower Danielle may look pretty but she likely can do some damage  if you get too close.. Some of those questions? I  have thought about what I want

I would be remiss if I did not cover the Ultra Underdogs. Truly the dark horse in this election is the Alberta Party. I wasn't going to cover them because from what I can tell they have no candidate in my riding. But they might have one in another readers so I went to their site.  Heres the link: http://www.albertaparty.ca/ Glenn no more moustache Glenn Taylor  is one of those guys who sort of fell into politics and because of that we get a picture of someone with extra integrity. Probably true, he more than likely is less jaded than someone who has been in the system for 20 years, but that lack of experience in the provincial political playground will probably just as likely cost his party. This has also made him as dark a horse in previous elections as his party is in this election. This particular dark horse wont be winning the race but it could upset the order at the finish line but I really don't even see that happening. At first glance the websit

So you gonna vote? Spoiler Alert!  There are no  (more) nude women in this post! Its just that the NDP need help so thought I'd draw more of an audience to my humble blog of course the honorable folks in the NDP would never stoop to the lowest rung like yours truly, maybe they should. When you consider my roots are in Saskatchewan you'd think I would be all over the NDP and until the Green Party I did. Hey  I do like NDP policies and in the pack of wolves who are vying to be top dog in Alberta the NDP are the only ones who field a leader who has a degree in Political Science, more ironic than anything of substance. Truly I find the fact he was an Edmonton city bus driver for many years to be of more interest and IMO of more value to the electorate. New Democrats have pretty much always been third or forth in the popular vote in this province and while we do not have huge numbers of union members you'd think they'd do better than they do. A Netflix update

My TV is nicer than this one Well the experience so far has been a mix of pleasure along with some profound disappointment. I don't have to wait and search There are only 39 titles under the heading Music, I did not include kids video. There needs to be a "B" movie list and a deeper library. By that I mean they could have a lot more older movies yet the classic search provided 7 pages not many were that old and dozens were not there regardless of age.  The classic search alone has taken me to the point where the phone is in my hand and Shaw is on speed dial a cancellation eminent. That said Netflix can still be much better and have a universal appeal with little extra in cost. More on Netflix as we get comfy together.

The Underdogs in this election have yet to lead the province in the legislature. As rare as a native Calgarian Raj Sherman and the Liberals, I personally know of not one person who has ever voted Liberal in this province.  Of course it is not the first thing in a conversation as I have never really been political but have been very close to the "power"  all the same. How random. So the leader  Raj Sherman MD. Yes he is an ER doctor so he surely has a very real frontline view of the health care system.  Without being at all racist Raj's ethnicity gives him a view of Alberta and the world compared only to Allison. He spent the first ten years of life in India and grew up in the lower mainland. He will have a different POV than a white person no matter what his families social position might have been.  ? Does Raj having no economics degree or a law degree make him more or less appealing? He probably still works in the emergency ward. Al

Hey Dee I found a smiley photo! She like her incumbent rival is a very strong, attractive, smart, well papered, seasoned speaker but that's pretty much where the similarities end. Danielle Smith comes to the table with some heavy experience, say Fraser Institute, an internship with them and a time with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business and that type of experience worries me a bit. Why?   Her back ground is similar to  a man who back in the day I thought could be what this country needed Ol' shark eyes "MORE Prisons Damn it!"                          His name Stephen Harper! I never voted for the man but did think he would be a fair and balanced leader. Lucky I never wasted my vote. But enough of the political profiling lets take a look at the website. http://www.wildrose.ca/mlas/guy-boutilier/  That link takes you to the Fort McMurray MLA's page. Brilliant website very easy to navigate I really like the list of pledges, very

I have lived with this logo or one of it's previous incarnations for most of my life. Alberta has had a PC government for a very long time and in it's self that is not a bad thing but for the most part longevity brings with it a complacency.   Don Getty This is not so for the  PC's of Alberta Sure there was............. Donald Getty a rich guy who really likes golf but politics I think not so much. But then there was King Ralph! You had to vote for him. Ed Stelmach  same hat different boots? Then there was  Ed !  Not the most charismatic  leader the party  could have had and  there was a rustling in  the undergrowth of   rural Alberta.  It could be any sort of predator so the PC's needed a strong charismatic leader  to ward off the bitch wolf and her pack. Ed was not the leader to take on the Wildrose Party and in what would seem a very savvy and bold political move was made.  Once again we have a very dynamic person a

So there is an ELECTION coming to our beloved province. As usual I am wondering who the candidates are??? ??? ??? To be fair if I registered with anyone party I could find out plenty about any one of the platforms but how much info can a simple fellow like myself get in order to make an informed choice without having to pledge allegiance to a specific party? I tried this a few years ago and recently had little luck in finding out much about the Wild Rose Party of Alberta  none the less I will try again.  That will be later as I will start with my favorite party! Lets see if they have a candidate running in this province? Well it seems not a green party but a member of the international Green party. Here's their page  http://evergreenparty.ca/ So right off the Greens have a slick national website  http://www.greenparty.ca/riding/48001   I found, with very little looking, my riding info and yes there is a woman running in my riding! Too bad not provincially! And sh

So I finally got Netflix! The experience has been good except for my computer being a bit slow for streaming. One complaint that I have is that the library lacks depth. That said I have had it for only two days so the search function hasn't been used.  As I use it more the site will be able to predict titles that I will like. Algorithmicmitic what Whoa!  A mathematical way of saying "We are going to screw with your Netflix experience" ? Why must these engines with the ability to predict have that ability turned on at all times? I suppose they need to track and it doesn't really matter so long as it has a search function and you know what you're looking for. I will see as time goes on if this service is all that,  at the very least they seem to be going in the right direction, I hope it is as good as I think it is.  I want to find little gems in a "direct to DVD/ B movie" section. It would be like going to Zellers or Walmart an

So the history of my left thumb is one that defies logic. I would have been 16 and I put it through a table saw, just a flesh wound or so it was thought.. The two screws are holding whats left of the bottom knuckle A few stitches  and no X-ray which was unfortunate if I'd had one it would have shown the bone fragment on the inside of the knuckle which would cause me some discomfort latter. Then when I was married just before the first one arrived I managed to plunge a razor knife into the end of it cutting to the bone that took two or three stitches. After marriage I took a corner of it off with a chef's knife at a restaurant I was co running I drove to emergency and they could only tape it back on so that when it healed I had a thumb that looked like Hannibal Lecter had tried tasting by slicing a morsel off . Then the Oct  incident in  a week after which I pretty much  severed it at the knuckle. about two weeks about three weeks The emergency surge
