One of those modified posts, PC's and winning the election.
I have lived with this logo or one of it's previous incarnations for most of my life.
Alberta has had a PC government for a very long time and in it's self that is not a bad thing but for the most part longevity brings with it a complacency.
This is not so for the
PC's of Alberta
Sure there was.............
Donald Getty a rich guy
who really likes golf but politics I think not so much.
But then there was
King Ralph!
You had to vote for him.
Then there was
Ed!
Not the most
charismatic
leader the party
could have had and
there was a rustling in
the undergrowth of
rural Alberta.
It could be any sort of predator so the PC's needed a strong charismatic leader to ward off the bitch wolf and her pack.
Ed was not the leader to take on the Wildrose Party and in what would seem a very savvy and bold political move was made.
Once again we have a very dynamic person at the helm of the party someone who is as international as she is street smart or at least this is the spin I am getting.
She has a heck of a resume and she is certainly articulate but is
she the next leader
of the province?
I'll go to the website to find out more about the PC's.
Off to the PC website http://www.votepc.ca/
Wow what a good well organized site! It helps to have a few bucks in the coffers.
The PC's have history and in this province that is OK since the economy has hardly burped with the financial meltdown and it seems that they have a very weak opposition in the legislature.
They seem to be a shoe but they do have the Wild Rose's steaming up their butts.
So what policies do they have?
Do they address the reality of the average Albertan?
The website is very nice and it does give the user choices that make sense but I did not see a policy laid out to read. This might be a mute point considering the amount of info right at the head of the site.
It tells us about many different areas where the PC's have affected change in the recent past and outline policies for the future, pretty much the same old same old.
You be the judge but it seems old to me and general.
An example would be under schools, they want to build x amount more but every party running for election would build more schools, not because it makes complete sense but because voters respond to this kind of thing. It does not help the delivery of education directly and that is an Issue, creating more ultimately under utilized structures is not an answer to meaningful change in the delivery of education.
Post election it is clear that Allison Redford and the Tories have yet again kept the throne and yet again a rebel parties first time out in this province was a disaster and let's face it our new Premier is still a conservative.
But hopefully she is a thinking persons conservative.
If indeed she is then we have a chance at turning back some of the bad governance that has been going on in this province. By bad I mean mediocre policies that have favored Big Bad Business rather than the overall good of Albertans. Perhaps Allison will launch Alberta into the 21st century perhaps she will take us to the cutting edge of policy creation and voter input.
Are you thinking Allison?
