I just wanted the nail trimmed! WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES!!!

So the history of my left thumb is one that defies logic. I would have been 16 and I put it through a table saw, just a flesh wound or so it was thought..
The two screws are holding whats left of the bottom knuckle
A few stitches  and no X-ray which was unfortunate if I'd had one it would have shown the bone fragment on the inside of the knuckle which would cause me some discomfort latter.
Then when I was married just before the first one arrived I managed to plunge a razor knife into the end of it cutting to the bone that took two or three stitches. After marriage I took a corner of it off with a chef's knife at a restaurant I was co running I drove to emergency and they could only tape it back on so that when it healed I had a thumb that looked like Hannibal Lecter had tried tasting by slicing a morsel off .





Then the Oct  incident in 
a week after
which I pretty much 
severed
it at the knuckle.
about two weeks
about three weeks

The emergency surgery done



the thunb went from kind of straight and the ripped flesh was repairing it's self 
then
the wound split open
all hell broke loose as the thumb pulled to one side



8 weeks


It when to about 50 degrees 
and
rotated about 10 degrees.


It was obvious that
this new thumb 
configuration was not the best so off to Edmonton I went for a consultation with a plastic surgeon.



Dr. Morhart figured he would be able to put a screw through the tip of the thumb and through the knuckle holding it firm so the bone grafted to the knuckle joint will fuse together.


Unfortunately there was not enough of the lower knuckle to do that so he had to change tactics and install pins as you can see here.


On April 9th I am supposed to have the suture removed 
Another 4-5 weeks and the pins come out. Lets hope there is no infection and the joint fuses as it is supposed to.Graphic images

Oh I have been watching nothing on the news lately. Not watching cable means I tend to become news deficient meaning that I don't cruise The Huffington Post as much as I used to because even my time on the internet has been parred down. But Today I caught the evening news and saw a report on the reaction to Prime minister Harper and his entourage having armoured vehicles shipped to India to use while in that country. How were they shipped? By C17 Transport. The cost is said to be $37,000 an hour to run one of these babies. I think it's probably cheaper to ship the three vehicles by sea but would take a much longer time and the crew and maintenance etc for the C17 would still be a cost but at least the PM wouldn't be using the resources of the Canadian public coffers. Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge

So I have safely arived in Ft Mac with few mishaps except navigating Edmonton which didn't go well because of the amount of road construction enroute. Beside that and a crappy burger for lunch things went smooth on the drive and I pulled into the parking lot right on time. Still a few things are not in place the major one being my financing. It seems that I owe the Government a chunk of cash and they are going to extract it from my student loan. This fact I missed when debating the viability of this venture. I had concluded that I would have to get a P/T job but my loan was going to take care of my school expenses. I have a shortfall of exactly $2129.58! YIKES! To add to the mix we have my Daughter doing her vows on the 18th of this month, I wonder if it can be afforded. I planned on getting new tires after I was sure of my money situation and at this time it looks as though I won't be there or won't be here. This was posted a while back and on my stats page it is always the most read.  This is becoming an exercise in learning what my stats counter is counting.
